The picture above enforces whites opinion that stories are universal becuase I could relate to wanting a Iron Maiden poster.

How does Persepolis relate to White?
Persepolis is a perfect example of White describing that all stories are narratives and how they all have a point a view. Though that is not hard to determine since Persepolis is a biography. Even though it is a biography it still shows that all stories that have something to say has a specific view point and that if it was told by someone else the story would be different. Since that person would have there own viewpoint.

How does Persepolis enforce whites opinion that all stories are understandable by all cultures?

The author grew up in Iran and we are reading the story in the US. We are able to relate to the story. This proves that it doesn't matter who is writing the story or what country or what background the story came from. It can be universally understood by different cultures.

  1. Other than the desire for an Iron Maiden poster mentioned in the beginning of your post, I was just wondering how it is specifically "we in the US" are able to relate to the story. It's a valid statement, I just wish you'd have gone into more detail as to why.

  2. i think what makes it accessible is not only because she loves the same things a normal child of america would like, but also acts just as one would expect a normal child to ask. for example, when her and the other hcildren are using the viels as toys. that and she just charms the pants right off of you....no not like that antonio. get your mind out of the gutter.

  3. I totally have an Iron Maiden poster and it's the coolest piece of wall art I own...ah i'm a liar I don't lol

As far as your post goes, I understand what you mean as to we in the u.s can understand it. Since you (the reader) are reading the story it gives you that sense of belonging. Being sucked in to the text allows you to relate to the character in the story which amplifies a universal interaction w/ the story teller.
